We run the units nonstop.So well, in fact, that we bought a second one. The price point was right, the physical size was right, the energy consumption was minimal, Hoover is a good name, and we needed to maintain clean air in our home. Some reviewers accurately pointed out that it does generate some noise, which can be an issue when trying to sleep. I consider it white noise and actually welcome it. Some reviewers also accurately observed that the light panel on top of the unit can be an issue at night in a darkened bedroom. I don't find it annoying at all.
